Santeria is trying to convert me

Post by misswoo7 on Tue Jul 27, 2010 3:15 pm

A week ago i woke up from a disturbing dream or vision. In my dream i was walking by a house and i was pulled by the music in a certain spot. Unknowingly i walk into a santeria circle of people worshiping orishas. While I was walking through I was possed by an orisha named chango. I did the tribal dance which belonged to that orisha. While dancing I drank wine from a cup and spat out the wine on every person in that circle. I pick up a coconut shell and drank liquor out of it and spat out the liquor at every person in that circle. All of this was done in my dream while i was possesd.

I dont know anything about that religion and I have been told by people of that religion i need to have my cards read. I am a christian and I have replied to all people telling me that. I have asked god to tell me what he wants me to do or what does it mean but more of that stuff from that religion keeps poping up. The only thing I can come up with is im about to indur spirtual warfare with a host of evil.

P,S santeria is a religion used by most carribean islanders, which uses african orishas or spirts hidded by catholic saints
I guess its a hispanic form of witchcraft

Please if anyone can tell me what this means through the holy spirt I would apreacite it... god bless

I pray this is of help to you. I did a google search and this is the full discription they gave. I hope it is of help to you.

Santeria is a religious practice which is found throughout the Caribbean, particularly in Cuba. It is one of several Caribbean religions blending Roman Catholic beliefs with traditional African practices. Like many other religions which have their origins in slavery, Santeria is mysterious to those who do not practice it, and the culture which surrounds it is very closed to outsiders.

Santeria integrates beliefs held by the Yoruba and Bantu people of Nigeria, Senegal, and the Guinea Coast. These peoples were brought to the Caribbean as slaves and encouraged to convert to Catholicism so that they could be saved. In an attempt to retain their cultural heritage, Santeria arose. Followers of Santeria are known as Lukumi, which means friend, or Aborisha, which means worshiper of the Orisha.
Aborisha believe in a single higher deity, who is called Olorun. Olurun is a powerful source of Ashe, which is the divine life force in the tradition of Santeria. All objects have Ashe in varying levels, and understanding Ashe at a deeper level will bring a better understanding of the world. Olorun is accompanied by a pantheon of Orisha or Saints, all of whom have distinct personalities.

The Orisha resemble the Catholic saints, and in fact many saints have been borrowed from Catholic tradition to enrich Santeria. Some of the Orisha reflect deities from Yoruba belief. Well known Orisha include Ogun, the god of metalworking and fire, and Oshun, the goddess of the river. The pantheon of Orisha is believed to be infinite. Priests of Santeria are consecrated to a specific Orisha.
Santeria honors Olorun and his pantheon of saints in a number of ways. Animal sacrifices are made to feed the Orisha. Feeding the Orisha is supposed to bring good luck, purification, and forgiveness. It is also believed that the Orisha will grow restless and angry without animal sacrifice and human prayer, which might have catastrophic results. Chickens are commonly used, although larger sacrifices may also be made.

The practice also incorporates dancing and music. At festivals, dances are performed to raise the Orisha, who possess bystanders or priests to send messages. The Orisha are viewed as very human individuals, who enjoy parties and interaction rather than remote veneration. They are also capable of making mistakes. The Orisha may request specific offerings or rituals called Ebo from followers, while a particular Orisha may be petitioned for a unique need.

Veneration of ancestors, known as the Egun, is also very important. Aborisha believe that ancestors have a larger knowledge base to draw on than living people. Aborisha pray to the Egun and ask for advice about worldly matters. The Egun help to enforce traditions and the rules of life which allow humans and Orisha to live in harmony with one another. The traditional rules of Santeria closely resemble the Ten Commandments obeyed by Catholics, with a few additions including a commandment against the consumption of human flesh.

Santeria is often compared with voodoo. Although the two religions are similar, the primary difference is that under the tradition of Santeria, the Orisha are interchangeable with Catholic saints. This is not the case with voodoo, which worships the Orisha as entirely separate deities. A rich cultural tradition accompanies Santeria and other similar religious practices.

You are correct to assume this is a form of witchcraft and the Lord abhors it. Anything of the like. The following are scriptures where the Lord forbids it.

Leviticus 19:26-28, 31; 20:6, 27
Deuteronomy 18:9-14
2 Kings 23:24
Jeremiah 10:2

Pray and ask the Lord to forgive you for giving any way to witchcraft and pray protection and then plead the blood of Jesus over you.

Love in Jesus,

Connie

I also want to say that sometimes the Lord gives us dreams and insights into things that are going to come up in our future. Sometimes I deram about something that is going to happen from the perspective of another person. For instance, I once dreamed that I was a woman who was very attracted to another woman's husband. In the dream, I didn't recognize anyone.

Shortly after that, everything in the dream came to pass on one certain day and the Lord showed me the situation so that I was aware. My girlfriend had come to spend the weekend for Thanksgiving because we had moved three hours away and hadn't visited in a long time. During the dream, I realized the dream was abou ther and that she was attracted to my husband. I felt how attracted she was in the dream and I asked her about it and she said yes.

This does not seem like a symbolic warfare dream to me. So the next thought is: when things seem way out of your character what else could it be. This may be something the Lord is showing you to prepare you for the future.

Needless to say that was the last overnight visit at my house.

Here's another example of something similar:

Mia,

what if you dreamt of something very uncharacteristic of yourself and you see yourself in a mirror in a dream?

I don't have an interpretation for you BUT I can tell you that if something seems uncharacteristic for you, it probably is.

Secondly, a mirror sometimes symbolizes prophecy. Therefore, this very well maybe about someone else. Just like when you look through a window in a dream and it's a prophetic symbol, it seems like looking into a mirror could be the same thing.

I do agree. I think you are right. It is probably not me, in fact, last week, I learnt that my friend's baby sister had a baby and I am not sure if it was planned. Not sure how she feels. Dream could be her.

Forgot to give you my scripture reference:

1 Cor 13:12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

if I were you I would see this as a test and rebuke the dream cry out to GOD and get into some serious study in the word of GOD. GODS word protects us. The first and second commandment state that YAHWEH is the one GOD and you shall have no other GODS before him... I would also ponder as to how deep my faith is in the word of GOD, am I really doing what he says to do? or am I sitting this life out waiting for Jesus to come. Its ok to question yourself about your own faith dont be scared to do that. But if you love the lord you will invest in reading his word, remembering him at every moment and then you will be able to resist the devil and the devil will then flee from you.

I don't suggest rebuking the dream. Dreams reveal the truth. Oftentimes, they reveal what our enemies would rather have hidden.
