Did Any Of You Have Critical Parents?

Recommended Posts

is there anyone here who had critical parents or a critical/abusive parent growing up?

at what point were you free from it?

I had and still have a critical mother. I'm not sure that I am free from it in my mind because growing up with criticism is like a cancer in the soul. It wears on the esteem of the individual and I see where some of it has leaked out on my own son... crying

I'm in the process of renewing my mind through the Word of God and finding out what HE says about me. It's a process that I know will become easier as time goes on. I have to see myself free from all of the negativity that has plagued me my 41 years on this earth. I also have to guard my heart from this point on with ALL DILLIGENCE because now I understand that out of my heart flows the ISSUES of life.

I've grown up around critical/perfectionistic people, and it did have an effect on me. I don't even think they did it knowingly, it was habit--I had to be delivered from that because it plagued me and I became critical as well at EVERYTHING!! Nothing was ever good enough! God had to bring those things to my attention and when he did--he truly blessed me!!! I've learned how to love people and see things how the father does and I'm happier because of it!!! Know that God is not critical of you (though some people are) and you have to see yourself how God sees you--with nothing missing, broken, or out of place--but awesomely and wonderfully made!!!

well i made this thread because I too have a very critical parent.

my dad is bar none...THE threat in my life...and yet, God won't let me get away.

i've tried moving out, i've been KICKED OUT, all to return back to this **** heap.

i don't care how big "our" house is, my dad thinks that's SOO important.

he loves money, he hates "Laziness" which he has a skewed view of.

he is VERY idealistic.

it's abnormal, I AM TOO OLD FOR THIS.

this is SERIOUS, alright, i have GREAT STRESS in my body because of him.

i have health problems and delayed puberty because of him.

we have fought so many times, so much fighting.

he stomps around the house, telling me, my sister, and my mother what to do.

as I said, i am TOO OLD to be treated this way by my own dad.

but he does NOT care.

he's the kind of person that is "ALWAYS RIGHT" and everyone else is "ALWAYS WRONG."

how can i EVER become a MAN with someone like him in my life?

i mean, there is VERY little room for freedom and independence in this house.

i have been on and off about this for years now.

wondering if it's just me, but NOPE, there is something SERIOUSLY WRONG here.

i want to shame him SOOO BAD, but NOTHING short of a DIVINE MIRACLE could help me.

i hate this house, i don't care how big it is, i don't care how "nice" the neighborhood is, if i had my own house, it'd be FREE of this garbage that goes on here.

my dad has ACTUALLY HAD the AUDACITY to TELL ME that it's WRONG for ME to GET AN APARTMENT!

this guy is a psycho, totally controlled by some sinister force.

he's not someone you can reason with.

i don't really care, i just want this to end, this has been a long standing experience for over 15 years now.

Well Resolution, I have news for you. Moving into your own apartment will solve only a portion of your issue because unfortunately, criticism goes with you everywhere you go if you don't allow God to heal you. I thought moving away from my mother years ago would solve my problem, but it was YEARS before I realized I needed to turn it over to the Lord and to find out WHO I was IN CHRIST! Your dad only has the control over you that you allow him to have. I'm not sure how old you are, but if you are a minor, pray and submit. If you are an adult...pray and move out and allow the Lord to reveal to you that HE IS YOUR FATHER!!!!

Ya still gotta love your dad...he sounds like he has his own issues, but he's loved by God and you should love and respect him too.

no no no, you don't seem to undertand, i CANNOT move out.

that's the whole point, i am literally STUCK here.

God has NOT provided a way out.

i don't have the money, i don't have the means.

I have TRIED, TRIED TRIED TRIED oh so many times
ON MY OWN HUMAN WILL POWER to get the money, get the means, to NO avail.

Resolution,

Yes I had very critical parents. There is actually a critical spirit that the enemy will use against you. May I ask if you have ever been through a deliverance ministry session. The reason I suggest this is because I have noticed that you have a lot of stuff happening that you can not seem to break free from. You may want to check with your local church or do a search on line in your local area to a good church that does that type of ministry.

I like you had a difficult time getting free of many things and the Lord lead me to a deliverance ministry. Pray about it and see where the Lord will lead you. It is amazing how much it helps. That is why I am a Deliverance Minister because I want to see people free and so does Jesus. He says in His word, whom the Son sets free is free indeed. He also says that we have ALL power to trample on the lion and the serpent and will be no means be hurt. I will be praying for you as well.

God bless and I hope this helps,

Connie huggins

Unfortunately, God has never indicated that He wanted me to do something like that.

It's the same thing with "Christian Self Help Books."

I've never had put any stock in them.

Although, I don't see the point of experiencing this even
ONE MORE SECOND.

Resolution,

The Lord will not force us to do anything. We have the choice to believe or not. He is a gentleman. He does not force His way. He gently suggests. We have to be willing to believe and receive. Otherwise you tie His hands and then have the audacity to blame Him!

That you have to work out with Him.

Love in Christ,

Job and Joseph:

Both appointed to testing and trials and both DELIVERED personally by God Himself.

There are no Deliverance Ministries around me, nor do I have the means/money to get anywhere where one actually is.

Why not seek the one and true deliverer that is Jesus Christ! One must be willing to receive ministry. Whether it be by a preacher or by Jesus directly.

I have been personally delivered on 3 occasions but I was willing first.

Love in Christ,

Connie thinking
