Difficult People-how to respond

Recommended Posts

MY FIL is a difficult and abusive person.
We dont celebrate halloween. He tried to convince my husband to take our daughter trick or treating knowing how I felt about it. Thankfully, he said no.

My SIL who lives with MIL and FIL gives our daughter junk food all the time and said we are depriving her of junk food -not true.(didnt do flu shot am following a healthy diet regimen to prevent flu)

FIL and SIL have taught my child bad/inappropriate words.

They are not believers.

Yes, I agree with D...you have to set boundaries. That is YOUR baby and God has given YOU stewardship over her life. You will be held accountable so if they are teaching her inappropriate words, they have lost their opportunity to be around her. When they see that you are serious about your training, then they will eventually straighten up.

I concur. We as parents need to set these boundries. I know I did also. If you cannot respect my wishes as the parent and abide by my rules then your visitation rights have been suspended.

Love in Jesus,

thank you for your input.
I agree.

Part of me wants to reason with them and say "You know I dont agree with this -so why would you want to offend me by asking about it-If I were Jewish would you be trying to give my child ham?"
But there is no reasoning with the devil.

If they know it bothered me, knowing them they would continue the behaviour b/c that is how they are.
My daughter old me today" Aunt says "Halloween is so much fun"
I told her Aunt does not know Jesus. She said "Aunt loves me."

She doesnt need to be seeing them right now.
I will make try to set up playdates for her and plans with my family so I can just avoid this and if my husband insists she visit his family-I can go too so I can refute/diffuse anything they say.

I would let her see them but only if you are present. Setting the boundries can begin there. When something comes up......stop it dead in its track. See what I mean.

PS I just say the last line of your post. LOL we agree!

I totally agree with Connie. If they are going to see her...they need to be supervised vists with YOU.
