I know that we are suppose to confess our sins to God so that he may forgive us. My question is when the Bible says "Cast your cares upon Him because He cares for you" does that mean confessing something that you're worried about?

No, that's not all. It doesn't mean just confessing them. To "cast" means to "give" your cares to Him and leave them. It's like throwing them to Him (at His feet) for Him to take care of so you don't have to.

What I'm about to say is very important...

When you cast your cares upon Him - DO NOT GO BACK AND GET THEM! LEAVE THEM THERE NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!

I see it as this...imagine yourself walking down a sidewalk and you are carrying a load of groceries. Your hands are tired...your arms are aching and you are huffing and puffing. Someone comes along and says that they can help you by taking those bags and carrying them for you. You give them a few, but they say, I can take them all so you can rest your hands, arms and catch your breath.

Casting your cares is more about handing over something that you were not designed to carry than confessing something.

Does this make sense?

Sometimes my confessions make me feel like I failed in my faith walk. Do you guys ever experience that?

I used to feel that way because I hate the feeling of failing God. I have realized over the years THAT is condemnation. When I recognized that God doesn't condemn me for my sins and that all that I have committed and will commit in the future has been paid for by Jesus Christ, I go to God differently. It's no longer "bad child going to the big bad God"...it's "imperfect child going to a loving God".

The key here is to understand how much God REALLY loves you. Romans 8 says that NOTHING can separate you from the love of God...this includes sin. We separate ourselves from him because of sin, but God doesn't change or move...he's in the same spot...it's us that move...hmmmm!

We have to understand that God is ALL KNOWING. He knows when, where and why we fail, but He still called us before the foundation of this world was created. That says A LOT about his love for us. He could have said "never mind because he/she is going to not trust me or do this or that sin"...no, he called us anyway. PRAISE THE LORD!!!

We need to be like Peter when he walked on the water...keep our eyes on Jesus. When his eyes was on him, he walked on top of the water (his issues, his failures, etc). When he took his eyes off of him, thos same situation began to overcome him. Faith is simply keeping your eyes on the Lord no matter what is going on around you. Jesus is OUR FAITH...when we recognize that and understand that the only thing we really need to do is focus on Him and all that he represents to us, we willl be okay...no matter what the circumstances say.

Consider the following scriptures:

Ephesians 1:3-6
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Ephesians 2:10
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

Romans 8:28 - 30

1) Our days have been preordained by God Himself. We all have a unique purpose in being born, a calling to carry out in order that God's purposes be achieved and that He be glorified. Our job is to take the talents that He has deposited into us, listen and let Him reveal that purpose and walk in it.

2) We serve an omniscient God. There is NOTHING that he doesn't know. I say this to say that our flaws, sins, bad decisions, backslides, messes, confessions, etc. are NOT surprises to Him. He never says, "Wow! I really didn't think she do THAT...I knew about that that other thing, but never saw this one coming...Whew! I don't know how she's gonna get through that one...good luck with that!" But what He does say is that He's going to work ALL things together for good to those that love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) That includes our sins and missteps, injustices done to us, missed opportunities, obstacles in our way, our stubbornness and reluctance to submit, spirits that have come against us and tried to oppress us, etc. He does say that "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6) He will carry it on despite how difficult we sometimes make it for Him, because He's bigger than anything we will face. He is the one true God, omniscient and omnipotent, nothing is hidden from Him. He knew about the stuff you got into, the things you cast onto Him (and sometimes take back), He knows it all. (He also knows about those things some of us may get into next week that we don't even know about... )And He knew before the beginning of time that those things were coming as well.

So rejoice in knowing that we serve a God who is our Redeemer, who doesn't condemn us (Romans 8:1). Rejoice in knowing that we serve a God who, if we confess our sins, is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) Rejoice in knowing that He picks us up, brushes the sin off of us, and sets us back on solid ground (Psalm 40:2) and leaves the sin far from us, as far as the East is from the West (Psalm 103:12).

When I feel that way, I remember the God whom I serve and give thanks that His ways are not my ways, that His thoughts aren't my thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). I remember the above things mentioned and seek the learning(s) from the thing that I've confessed, repent, thank the Lord that He is faithful to forgive, and then I keep pressing forward. Don't allow guilt to set in, that's the enemy at work trying to gain a foothold into your life....

And that's the beauty of Christ Lola21st, that He already considered our sins and mishaps when he created us. That nothing can surprise Him (thank God).

These are things that I know and have studied but just needed a refresher. THANKS TO YOU ALL for feeding my spirit.

I've been going through so much and I've been declaring and decreeing (read my other posting) and fighting "the good" fight. But the other day the spirit of the Lord spoke and said to me that it was Christ that I wrestled with. I went and studied Genesis 32 how a man (Angel of God) wrestled with Jacob and God revealed to me that my battle was a battle of my own desires vs His. (now you wanna talk about being humbled). Then the spirit of the Lord started telling me how I have manipulated situations and people to try to get to a place that He'd already prepared for me.

I confessed it to be true and repented my sins (that's why I asked if sometimes your confession makes you feel like you've fail in your faith).

But like you said Lola21st, God does not condemn us, instead He loves us enough to correct us and our confession frees the spirit of sin, pride, etc so that the love of God can purifiy us.

Sounds like I go it, huh?
