Who does Barack obama remind you of? Do you think that he is "all talk" (ie: blowin hot air) when it comes to becoming president? Do you think that he is acting like he will help the country but then betray all those people that voted for him? just some questions.

Just putting on my moderator hat for a moment...

As we move closer to the mid-term elections, the emotions around them are going to intensify. Regardless of our political beliefs, let's remember that this is a dream interpretation site, not a political analysis site. To raise up a dream that occurred two years ago and add nothing of value to the interpretation except to leave a slanderous opinion about the President is, for me, inflammatory and inappropriate.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - please remember that not all the members in this online community believe that Obama is a betrayer nor bad for the country, nor any of the list of things that some groups choose to believe. Clearly it is ok to have political convictions, but PLEASE do not allow your passion around your political convictions to cause offense in this community and drive a wedge between us.

May I further add that if you have deep convictions about your Obama dreams, I would encourage you to pray and intercede for our country and for Obama. Remember God is such a God that He can change the heart of man.

He has in the past (read Acts 9 the story of Paul on his way to Damascus). We (Christians) in my opinion, have to be carful with putting our emotions on this because it can easily cause division and hatred and God did not call us to that. He called us to love one another...YES EVEN OUR ENEMIES!

Be blessed~

Ok JJp, Lola, and Grace, First of I'm sorry for being Disrespectful to Obama in calling him a betrayer. I however was not slandering which is making up falsities about someone and spreading them (I know what that is because people have done that to me). I should have just stated what he said or did instead.
I spoke to a good friend today who worked with me on the fine line of respect and not compromising the truth. She had me read something I've read a lot, in fact read it recently about giving to Caesar etc. It is something I've been struggling with and it's very difficult for me to wrap my mind around the whole concept of respecting someone who God has apparently (from what the Bible says) put into office, that I have heard him say that he would have his daughter abort his own grandchildren if she got pregnant as a teen.
I'm struggling with trying to see that God has put the most despicable people as kings, rulers, etc into office. I am more than struggling, this is a serious battle because for me to not admit that God puts these people would be saying that people are in control. Which I guess is what I'm struggling with, that people are not in control, God is. I can say that I am very conflicted about this. There are NO good examples of Christians being respectful but Truthful, it seems that either they are silent or loud and disrespectful. Where are the loud respectful Christians that I can learn from?

Re: Barak Obama

Post by Mia Sherwood on Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:40 pm

I've had God tell me that we need to vote, write to our representatives, etc., because most Christians are not having a large enough effect on our governments. He literally said to me that if people had bothered to take five minutes and spend pennies on a stamp, prayer would still be in schools.

I think that it is okay to discuss our opinions, which is why we have many forums here. This is a community. However, as hind stated, we can do it tactfully, addressing what they have done versus name calling.

I want to add that the Lord spoke very forcefully one day about our responsibility with regard to who we vote for. By not taking a stand for righteousness in our votes, we are voting for whatever they stand for... ie, homosexuality, abortion, etc.

I want us all to remember that our passion for what is right is what fuels our emotions with respect to our political positions.

I also want to share what the Lord spoke to me during elections one year, when my church was taking a stand against gay marriage:

The LORD said, Do not be confused. I am not asking you to take a stand AGAINST homosexuals. I am asking you to take a stand FOR righteousness.

The essence is this; these people, whom are standing for things that we are passionately opposed to, are not our enemies... they are the mission field.

Thank you Mia!!

I am Always signing petitions!! I try to pray for the leaders too, but I know I don't do it as much as God would like. I really don't enjoy praying for them at all.

Hi HF -

Apology accepted! No worries, we all have heart issues to work out... flower

One thing in your comment that stood out to me because it's really been on my heart over the past few months but especially over the last few weeks is:

There are NO good examples of Christians being respectful but Truthful, it seems that either they are silent or loud and disrespectful. Where are the loud respectful Christians that I can learn from?

I agree and am grieved by the behavior of some of my brothers and sisters in Christ. While well intentioned, their actions/statements (IMHO) are doing more harm than good and are making it more difficult to reach lost souls because when people think of Christianity they associate it with these individuals and decide they don't want to sign up if they're going to be on the same team as these folks... bandaid I've been following some of the online discussions about the elections and the issues of the day (e.g., gay marriage) and when I read some of the statements and then realize that they were made by people who call themselves Christians, I shudder because they sound just as horrible (if not worse) then the people we're debating..... duh

Thanks Mia, good points! flower

AMen Lola!!! I have an aunt who is gay... So I totally know what you are talking about... I find that often I am having to stick up for her as a human being who God loves but not for her lifestyle, just as I wouldn't stick up for the lifestyle of smoking. That is always my comparison cigs and gaydom.
I totally agree!!!

Oh, I don't openly protest gaydom because of that either, but I do petitions against the lifestyle in our govt schools and etc.
