The Holy Spirit Vs. Your Own Feelings

Recommended Posts

for those of you who have discovered the meaning of your dreams via the holy spirit...what was that like?

what does the holy spirit revealing the meaning to you feel like as opposed to you wrestling with the symbology and trying on your own to "figure it out"?

Thisissparta,

It is not a feeling but a knowledge of Him being there and revealing His truth within you by speaking through His word.

I pray that is of help to you,

Connie

Why struggle?? Just relax...God has a way of getting the interpretation of what He's saying to you. There are dreams that I've had that I still don't know what they mean and I had them a LONG time ago, but He reveals to us in part as we need it. Relax and let it come to you. One day you will be reading the Bible or sitting somewhere and the light bulb will come on. He's awesome like that.

in parts?

why in parts?

the sooner the meaning of the dream is revealed, the sooner one can actually DO SOMETHING about it.

17 Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. 18 He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven 20 and said:
"Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.
21 He changes times and seasons;
he sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.
22 He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him.
23 I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers:
You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,

Hey Sparta. I hear ya' on the "do something". Here's what I am learning (and you're not going to like it). When "the girls" on the forum keep saying, "settle down, relax", they're right. I'm a type A, over-acheiver, busy all the time, don't watch TV cause that's wasting time kinda person. So, if God's got something I need to know about or he'd like to tell me, I agree with you, let's get it out and get to it!
BUT, see what you can learn about your creator - his personality, WHO He is - as He's making you wait for his messages and interpretations. That's what in it FOR HIM. Pray and ask for God to show you things FROM HIS POINT OF VIEW and remember that his point of view doesn't have time as a factor.
Sometimes by waiting, it increases the glory FOR HIM. Sometimes, it makes the timing more perfect.
What does it do for you? Besides making you more patient? It tests and grows your faith. (I get the mental image of the cell phone commercial where the guys walking around saying "Can you hear me now? But instead, it's God saying, Do you trust me now? How about now? as he moves about in my "dead zones"). You learn to press in. To discover ALL the ways that God amkes himself known to you.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree with rnestseekr....
God created us to fellowship with Him....Dreams are God's language to us...You know there is this old song that I love. and He walks with me and He talks with me...and He tells me I am His own...and the joy that we share as we tary there....none other has ever know.
When I was a girl I asked so many questions and no answers about God....I wanted to know why He did not talk to us. I was told that this was just how it was. I was was just a girl...but when i heard those words for the first time....my whole world changed.....and I walk with Him and talk with Him now. You are brave to ask questions....I pray God reveals all that you can possilby hold.
Walk In His Way...and you will know the Truth and the truth will set you free!!!!!! God Bless

When I (personally) know the meaning of the dream via the Holy Spirit....it usually has already manifested and I am like "wow...thats what God meant"....like one time I had a dream I was in a basement, I was in bed and I could see bad guys plotting against us. My little daughter climbed in bed with me and I whispered to her...do you see those evil enities? they are plotting against us. my little daughter said, "No mama, those are real men plotting against us" then I awoke with my son screaming out the number "5".....
two days later the underground bombings in England were in the papers...it took a few days to find the 5th bomber. I did not know exactly what the dream meant, until my son in law called (I had shared my dream with him the morning before) to tell me that my dream had come true. I dont spend much energy trying to figure things out....I know now to pray....for everyone and anyone who might be involved and I aske God to provided His divine will in the situation that He has revealed to me. That to me is the most important part.
When God gives me the answer....I dont wonder anymore. it comes with a secure knowledge from above.

Amen. Sometimes, and especially when I am in a testing period, I don't hear the Lord the way I normally would. Especially if He is teaching me a new "language". You know, speaking to me in a way that I am not accustomed to. It can be frustrating if I let fear be a factor. But if I just trust in the Lord, I have so much more peace, knowing that no matter what is going on, it will not separate me from God's sweet, covering love. Then, when the dreams come to pass, I can be like, "yeah, You told me that." Often I have dreams that reveal things about me, and simultaneously, I will have dreams and visions about other people, places and events. When I was young in the Lord, I did a lot of baby demands, and He was always indulgent, but as I grow older in the Lord, I noticed that my steps in the Lord have gone through the toddler stage, where I learned yes and no and consequences, and language of my father. Then I went through the child stage of inquisitiveness and wanting to know more about life according to the spirit. I went through the teenage years, and the young adult years. I don't know what chapter of life I am in right now, but I will be able to reflect on it later. I do know that I am believing the Lord to fight the biggest fight of my life for me, and deliver me like Jehoshaphat.
