bible dream share

Post by daisyscheihing on Wed Feb 18, 2009 4:41 am

hello friends :uhoh: Is it possible to have a share time on a dream.

Starting with Abram? Keep it bible based but sharing thoughts.

Asking questions like. Why was this dream given?

Do you see this working out in his life and so forth?

Perhaps it could be learning experience . But also be of help and insight .Sunshine

Sorry about that! I was thinking this is the place we share dreams. People in the old testament had amazing dreams.

I thought it might be help full to look at a dream together. Then post ones thoughts on the dream .It could be reveling. To see how god spoke to others as recorded.

What the dream was about in that person’s life.

Why was it given? What was the out come? Was it a warning or for other reasons. That sought of thing.

You mean, do a bible study together based on dreams in the OT? Sure! Where do you want to start? It might be better, though, to move this strain over to the bible study section - if I'm following your train of thought.

Ok, I will try to move this subject to bible study .I am still learning to get around on this sight. I do believe the first dream recorded in the Old Testament. Was with Abram in a vision and later he fell asleep. And the Lord continued to speak to him in a dream state.

Lets start there Genesis 15/1-18

Why was this vision given?

What was the purpose?

How was the dream or vision received?

Asking questions like that. I think it may help to see from scripture the ways of the lord. In dealing with other people in dreams and visions.

I will try to post in bible study section but I have to find it first.

I looked this morning and do not see a bible section?

I may be getting in over my head on this one. Maybe others will feel inspired to . Judy

OK: I've spent some time reading the scripture that you've referenced. Here were a couple of things that struck me about the passage:
1.) Abram already had a significant relationship with God. He believed God, his promises and it was credited to him as righteousness (Gen15:6)
2.) It was interesting that the Lord had already been talking with Abram in person. Why then the need for the dream? Was it perhaps that what the Lord was going to impart was too "mind blowing"? Or was it that Abram needed to rest, the Lord knew that, but didn't want to quit fellowshipping w/ Abram?
3.) When Abram fell asleep, he was wWAITING on God. He'd gone and got the animals for the sacrifice. It seemed like a logical next step to set the sacrifice on fire. But he didn't. he was waiting on God.
4.) Did God wait to accept the sacrifice and finish talking about the covenant until Abram knew ALL the facts - that everything wasn't going to be rosy, but God was in control of it all.
5.) The dream was "dark". In fact, athick and dreadful darkness came over Abram". I think this is a strong case for using discernment in our dream interpretation. I get a little miffed when others interpretting dreams say, "This was a dream sent to you by the enemy. Pay no heed. Repent! What have you done to open a door to the enemy." Indeed, sometimes that is true, but not always. Sometimes, our darker dreams may be the Lord expressing his dismay, or revealing to us a dark time yet to come - or warning us of it, but offering an invitation to avoid it through obedience, etc.
I believe the bible study section is now a sub title and is called "member teachings".
Other thoughts???? Anyone?

Thanks for sharing on Abram. I picked this dream because I could see it was a dream of deep meaning. Maybe others will share also.

I know some dreams could be of the devil. But that is not my first thought on difficult or complicated dreams. In the entire Old and New Testament, I do not see one dream where it is said it was of the devil. I am not saying that it is not possible. I am new to understanding in this area.

(There is a reference to filthy dreamers.) I have had dreams for years. Why? Or what is the Lord saying? I have shared with other Christians who said “That’s not of God; you had best pray that the dreams stop.”

This study of dreams is encouraging. It helps see how God responds to the human side of us. I had someone say the only time God speaks in dreams is when you will not listen any other way. I know better than that. But there are so many discouraging things even in Christian circles.

I posted under teachings. Do you have a dream from the scriptures you would like us to discuss?

Judy: Don't become discouraged by what others have to say about dreaming! Maybe you know the bible better than they do! You can respond in the future by gently educating them that the bible eferences more than 250 dreams and visions! I agree with you, I find that learning about dreaming is encouraging to me in understanding both myself and my Savior. I am surrently in a very dry time. Even my natural dreams have been diminished in both number, duration, frequency, etc. I MISS having the Lord speak to me in this way! I don't always understand it, but there is some comfort in knowing that my lord desires to speak to me, even when I am asleep. Dream on!

humble pie

Post by daisyscheihing on Tue Mar 24, 2009 4:24 am

Thanks for your kind thoughts and encouraging words.

I have come to accept dreams and make effort to better under stand the lord.

I feel to many times the works of the Lord are said to be of the devil.

Christians have some thing special the world and the devil cannot give. It’s high time we embraced our spiritual heritage.

Even good people some times can be a stumbling block to ones faith.

Not ever thing said to be of the lord is of the Lord.

We are told to try the spirits to see if they be of the lord. (John) If we think a dream is telling us to sin or leads away from the truth of the word. Some thing is wrong some where.

I honestly think some of the problem comes into this dreams area. Because we think we under stand. Some times acting upon what we think has been said. . Gets a person in a great deal of trouble.

I believed a thing was being said in a dream in fact several dreams. When it came to pass and did not work out the way. I thought it should have. It took a little time to get back up.I felt stupid and defeated. Only I knew the dream or the out come. It was at a time I had not accepted dreams in the lord. But it was a testing time where I struggled with my self.
it seems christians have to battle for what is theirs in the Lord.

Some years …later I came full cycle and realized .The dreams were of the Lord but did not imply what I thought. Humble Pie!!

Praise the lord.
