Vision of death??

Post by exo152 on Mon Apr 01, 2013 2:32 pm

The other day I was praying about a situation. I have been feeling guilty about not connecting with an older person from my childhood. I connect with a family member of theirs and we are quite close, but the other one is extremely difficult to deal with and so I have let that relationship slide somewhat. So, feeling guilty, I was praying about it, wanting the Lord's leadership in trying to reconnect with this person, while still maintaining some limits for my own peace of mind.
While praying I had what I believe to be a vision. I saw the person I have been lax in contacting dead, in a casket. I could see even the details of the casket. Then, in a flash, I saw a tombstone. It had this person and their spouse's names engraved on the tombstone, but the date for their spouse was only the birth date, while theirs was birth and death. The dates were hazy, I couldn't make them out. But the thing that troubled me was that I felt no clutch of fear or sadness that they were gone. My only feeling was a relief that their spouse would outlive them, as they are a good person who has dealt with a lot of abuse at the hands of the other person through the years. I hope this is making sense and that someone might know what it means.
Thank you and God bless!!

Do you think this dream might be saying to leave the situation alone? Perhaps pray that somebody more suited to this person come along? I think we are most effective where we also most productive because the conditions are right. Grow where you're planted kinda.

God doesn't motivate us with guilt so I don't think this is coming from God.

Are you saying the feelings of guilt are not coming from God or the vision? And you think I should leave this relationship alone? The reason I was praying about reconnecting with this person was that their family member I am close to told me the person is dealing with depression. Since their personality is so very self-righteous and offensive at times, I know loneliness is a contributing factor to their depression. I do tend to respond to situations out of guilt a lot.

I'm saying the guilt is not from God. He never makes us feel guilty (not the same as conviction) and He doesn't motivate us to help someone through guilt. He motivates us in other ways, usually that we don't even notice He's doing until after.

I was addressing your guilt. Don't help because you feel guilty. Pray, for sure but wait for God to direct you.

A suggestion though: You don't have to hang out to do this - you could do nice things, like bake for them and drop it off; or, cook them a meal without having to endure their personality. Do something that you enjoy and that won't cause you to suffer and not want to help.

Just a thought.

Thank you Mia. Do you think what I saw was an actual vision? It startled me when I saw it (my thoughts were not traveling that direction!) but even now when I think of it, it is almost as if I have no feelings about it at all.
