Polygamy Marriage

Post by Mia Sherwood on Tue Mar 19, 2013 8:28 am

I saw many polygamous people getting married. Most of them had two wives who they were lining up to marry. Few had more than that but they were all in the same place to be married.

Interestingly enough, I've heard quite a bit of talk about polygamy recently. The first thing that came to my mind was that it seemed as if people were becoming descentized to this way of life now. It used to be something people abhored, but recently when I heard these different conversations, it was almost funny to them...and at the same time there was a curiousity.
Without sounding too crude...I really believe that the fact that lust has been heightened in our country, this could be something that people would vote for...just like gay marriage...when once upon a time that was the unthinkable.
My heart weeps...but yet I'm praying and interceding...

I thought instantly about gay marriage too. I'm ready for Jesus to come back now.

This. Absolutely. And you nailed it on the head when you pointed out how the attitude toward it has transitioned so.

Slowly and with subtlety, people become more numb to these things as their lives are bombarded with propaganda that depicts them as acceptible.

Personally I believe that it is not the state's job to legislate sexuality between consenting adults, but there is still something that is massively bothering me about this dream.

I mean, the implied surplus of women would have to come from somewhere! This kind of polygamy would imply lots of men without a wife, or so few remaining men that each of them could marry multiple wives without causing a shortage of 'available' women. Either situation would contain its share of negative implications and that even from a secular point of view. THAT is what is REALLY disturbing me here!

Just my thoughts, but when I think of polygamy I think of weak and desperate women too. I feel like there is a stronghold insecurity on these specific women, that they don't know their full value and worth. Just my thoughts on the issue, not the dream.

Ephesians 2:8,9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Ohhh Daisy, when I read your post this scripture came to my mind...
And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying,
“We will eat our own food and wear our own apparel; Only let us be called by your name,
To take away our reproach.” (Isaiah 4:1)
You can't get ANY MORE desperate than that...WOW!

Wow, I didn't even know that scripture existed. Wow.

Such a situation would, as I said, require a MASSIVE surplus of women.

To me this sounds like either the result of a disease, or like the result of a war that got most men killed. Either way, this doesn't sound good. Knowing humanity my guess is on the "war" explanation.

I live in California (Proposition 8 - gay marriage ban) and I've been praying like crazy. I have been interceding and asking God to allow the voice of His people to stand. Certain cities in this state are dangerously close to becoming Sodom and Gomorrah.

Please pray for this state.

Thank you,

Marla

perhaps divorce doe'snt always break-up a marriage

Post by hairttonia on Sun Dec 27, 2015 6:17 pm

I have been studying what Jesus said in Matthew 19:9 and 5:23 and Mark 10: 12 concerning marriage, perhaps that could mean some marriages are not honored by God because of what Jesus maybe saying in these scriptures. what is your stance?
