Prayers for my son!!

Recommended Posts

Please join together in prayer with my husband and I for our son. He was born a miracle child (I was not supposed to be able to concieve nor carry a child full term). The Lord gave me many promises through the years for him, before his conception, during the time I carried him and after his birth. Just two years ago he came to us and shared that he knew he was called of God to minister (we had never shared the prophesies the Lord had given us about him, wanting him to hear God for himself). He began ministery and was excited, annointed and doing well, when he was asked to help in another ministry during his off-time. He jumped right in and soon became sucked completely into this other ministry, which just as quickly became a secular venue instead of God-lead. He lost his passion for ministry and even today will say he will never do ministry again. He is now living with a family member who greatly influenced him when a teenager. This man and his wife are in the ministry, but they are not strong in the Word and are very flakey in thier teachings. What is more they are very manipulative and controlling. We discovered, by accident (or the Holy Spirit) that this man was counseling our son against us, trying to drive a wedge between us and him. They have been encouraging him to do things that are ungodly and rebellious, saying it will be a great witnessing tool. Our son is naive and trusting and has strong soul ties to this man and his wife. We confronted them with what we had discovered and the man apologized, but his wife clearly lied about it all. Now our son isn't even contacting us or responding to texts. Please pray that God open his eyes to the truth and draw him back to his true calling. Thank you so much!!

Wow! I am praying as well. Just know that God's word does not return void. No one can stop the purposes of God. We aren't always aware of the things that have to take place, on the way to the promise, but just trust the Word of The Lord and continue to put God in remembrance of it god is faithful to his word!

Thank you! I just talked to my son this weekend (I called him) and he confessed he'd been putting out some "fleeces" to see if he was really where he was supposed to be. I see the need on his part to put out a "fleece" being the tug of the Holy Spirit on his heart. Please agree with us that God will clearly show our son His will and that the enemy won't manufacture those fleeces instead. Thank you again for the encouragement! I have needed it!

Hello exo152,

Do u mind me asking how old your son is right now? I had a similar experience when I was first saved as a young adult, but my foundation was not strong in The Lord...allowing me to be very vulnerable and easily manipulated by similar flaky "leaders" who controlled me for many years. My mother prayed without ceasing, and finally The Lord showed me His ways were not the ways of these leaders. One thing played a huge role in my deliverance, was getting plugged in to a local church body. Is your son currently attending a church consistently? Is it a good church? Hearing of the true word was what set me free, and I could see these people were not teaching the true word of God, but twisting Gods word for their selfish gain. Can I ask u what cld these people be gaining from trying to turn your son against you? In my situation, I was being mistreated and also they were gaining financially from me staying with them. I find it interesting, they also turned me against my family for a period of time.

Plz know I am fervently praying for your son, as I have been through a similar situation in my earlier years.

Our son in nineteen. And the people manupulating him were his youth pastors for about five years. So the soul ties are strong. They are currently attending church and the man is doing youth ministry, although how long they will stay is hard to know as they will leave if anyone disagrees with them and have "church" at home. I am not sure how good their church is; it's denomination is good and we attend a church that is affliliated with it. But some of the teachings we are hearing coming out of it are "fresh revelations" and do not coincide with Biblical teaching. And what can they gain by turning our son against us? We were in pastorial ministry for several years and worked closely with this family. When we refused to agree with some off their off the wall "revelations" they left. The Holy Spirit showed us at that time that the woman has a strong Jezebel spirit and her husand that of Ahab. We know for one, she would love to get retaliation against us for refusing to let her "rule" several situations. (we know this by the Spirit). But the Holy Spirit has also revealed to us that the man has a strong territorial spirit toward our son. He feels as if he is our son's spiritual father and must redirect him spiritually. Up until our son moved in with them, we had a very close relationship with our son and he even told us he was uncomfortable with them at times because they often tried to push him against his will. Thank you so much for the prayers. We are much grieved in our spirits but feel confident that God is working even when we cannot see. We also know that others they have tried to manipulate in the past have not stayed with them long and when relationships get close with them, they usually end quickly.

Plz keep me updated. I see the situation clearly now, and will pray accordingly. Isn't it funny that I was the same age as your son when I experienced this? Be encouraged, ALL of this will turn out for Gods glory! The good thing that your son has that I did not is a strong foundation that you instilled I him as a child! I didn't have any of this, yet The Lord in His goodness and mercy still reached me! I hope I am accurate when I share with you my thoughts and feeling that I don't think it will be long before yor son sees the truth!

When you speak with your son, do you ever talk about the error of the ways of your family members? My mom would try and point things out to me, and try and turn me against our family friends. This backfired on my mom, making the others grip on even tighter to me with control. In my situation, I think if my mom just focused on having a relationship with me and caring about me without proving the others to be wrong (though they were very wrong), these controlling people may not have encouraged me to cut my mom off completely. My mom also felt the need to defend herself against what the others were saying against her, instead of just loving me and being confident in me that i am smart enough to make good decisions. it may also help your son to be reassured how confident you are with his judgement, and that if he ever needs you at anytime, you are there for him. It may also be reassuring to him to hear that if he ever needs a place to stay, that he is welcome there at your house as well. I share this only bc I have experienced the other side of this. There were times i didnt feel like i had any other option where i could go to live, so i was stuck being mistreated. My situation was not exactly the same as Yours, but similar in some ways. I believe your son will see the fruit or lack thereof i should say, from the other family members eventually. plz know My heart is only sharing these things to hopefully help. Plz plz plz pray on these suggestions, and toss anything that you feel doesn't fit in your situation. These are only my thoughts, and past experiences. God may lead you in a very different way for your sons needs. Plz be encouraged that no matter what, God will prevail in this situation! God will be sure to vindicate anything that has been spoken against you and your family. I know full restoration will come to your family!! I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Thank you and feel free to share anything you feel may help. This situation really blind-sided us. We had problems with them in the past (i.e. ministry) but I never really shared it with our children (my husband did voice some hurt and anger at the time). When our son visited over the holidays I did try to talk to him in a nice way, sharing with him that I had had some issues with the woman in the past and I wanted him to be sure and pray about things. Up until I accidentally saw a message sent to my son from the man, I really thought the man was an innocent in the whole thing and trusted him where my son was concerned. The next day I felt very moved by the Holy Spirit to expose to them that we realized what was going on and were hurt that they were trying to do this to our family. The man apologized, citing a misunderstanding on his part. He did seem sincere. His wife clearly lied about her part in the matter (I know her well enough by now to sense when she isn't being truthful). But since that day the phone calls and text messages from our son have almost stopped. Earlier this week I sent him a note telling him we were aware he seemed to be avoiding us and wished to know what the problem was so it could be fixed. I carefully avoided mentioning the others. Since then I have heard nothing from him. We have always let him know that he is always welcome to come back home, but it is his choice (that has been the main point the others have been making him--that we are trying to force him to come back home). So maybe you can tell me this---did it help any when you heard from your family or would it have been better for them to have backed off? We are unsure whether we should continue trying to contact him or just back off completely.
Thank you.

The thing that comes to mind to me is this.....just my thoughts here....Always be the prodigal sons parents. By that I mean do what you are doing. Let him know he is always welcome. The decision to return must be his but the gentle reminders he is welcome will always be with him and when the time comes....and you know it will...he will return.

Love in Jesus,

Connie

Yes, I agree with Connie. Always gently reaching out is a good idea. I felt in my situation, with the stage I was in during my life when I experienced something similar, I really needed space to make my own choices, BUT I would have loved the validation from my parents that THEY were confident in my judgement and decisions. In my situation, I'm not quite sure why this would have made such a difference to me, but I think it would have given me the confidence I needed to possibly walk away sooner. I think it could be the age I was, I wanted to be respected as an adult, yet I still needed guidance but didn't want to admit it or receive it from my parents. I think that unconditional, unjudgemental love you are already showing your son is so important. My thoughts are that as you let him know you respect the decisions he makes, by letting him know how much you trust his judgement is going to just empower him to make good choices. I also feel that by letting him know you are still there for him is also very important. Trust in that good seed of Gods word that you have placed in this young man will not return void, it will produce the fruit of Gods power in his life. These are just my thoughts, p,ease pray on them and throw away anything that The Lord does not confirm to you in your spirit. Please update us, bc this subject weighs on my heart heavy. I will continue to pray for a breakthrough in this situation.

Just an update. I dreamed last night, just a short dream, of my son walking into our house and opening a drawer to take out a key (in real life that is the drawer his old house key is in). He put the key in his pocket and walked toward his room. My daughter turned to me and asked, "what did he get?" I said."his house key." she said to me, "good, maybe that means he is home to stay."
In real life, the key is his house key, and he placed it in that drawer when he moved out.
That is all I remember from the dream. But this morning he texted me to see if we could make arrangments to get him home for Christmas. If our plans go through he will be home for 3-4 weeks. He is also planning on bringing some important items back home with him. Please continue to pray that his way will not be blocked by the ones he is living with. Also pray that his time home will help him see clearly where he belongs. Thanks guys!!

Wow... you have alot going on and it's so wonderful that your prayers are very specific for your son. I experienced something similar and was connected to a ministry that was after their own flesh instead of following God's word. Today I am walking in deliverance from all the strongholds I picked up along the way. I am also thankful for that experience because it has helped me to trust God more, to have greater faith in hopeless situations and to look to God. The enemy, the devil is already deveated. He will try to distract us but he has already lost the fight. Your son will come out of this stronger than ever before and will have a great spirit of decerment when God is ready to deliver him from this mess. I pray that the Holy Spirit huffers over your son while he is in this dark place. But he will see the light and will walk in it when he starts his own ministry and will recognize any scemes of the enemy because of this experience. Just keep the faith and stay strong for God will give you all He has promised you.

Just another update. Our son has been home a couple of weeks and it has been a time blessed by God. We have had some really good conversations and he has said if he can find a job here he won't go back. He is also talking again to his former girlfriend (the one our daughter dreamed about) and he is hoping things go well for them. So, PLEASE pray that he finds a job quickly and also that God's will be done in the relationship. One thing I noticed quickly with him is that it seems some of the soul ties with these other people have loosened. I know this is because of prayer. Thank you again for all your prayers!!

Wow extra oil! Ur post here is amazing. Honestly, you have ministered to me from my past experience as well. There is always that thought that crosses my mind on why did I have to endure this seven year testing/trial to such an extreme? Though I knew and seen some of the good that has come from my situation, I think ur post fills in the blanks. I bear witness that for me my situation has given me a much needed sense of discernment, and i see now how this was worked into me in my situation. I'm sure this also encourages exo too! :goodpost:
