I grew a beard!

Post by Deborah on Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:10 pm

I had a dream where I literally woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and I had grown a beard on my face that was about 1 cm long already! (I'm a woman, so this was not a good thing!) In the dream I was horrified, but also perplexed. lol!

I had this dream before my husband got unexpectedly admitted to the hospital again, so in his absence maybe I was kinda the man of the house... Scratch Chin Deborah, scratching her non-existent beard laugh

Hmmm, whenever there is a Mirror in my dream and I'm looking at myself in it, it represents the Word of God...

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Cor 3:18)

I'm wondering if this represents how you see yourself. Not necessarily masculine, but this represents a spiritual identity problem. I say that because you were horrified and perplexed.

Just some thoughts. Toss out anything that doesn't minister.

Hmm, interesting, Cholette. I've been pondering 1 Peter 3:4 lately where it talks about the "incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirt, which is very precious in the sight of the God" (sort of a feminine trait) and trying to balance it with verses that say we are supposed to be bold and strong (Joshua 1) (probably more of a masculine trait).

Years ago I was beating myself up for being kind of a quiet person and I was in the Word and got that verse from 1 Peter 3:4. Now lately I heard a sermon about how Christians need to become more aggressive and outwardly expressive. In my head I know that balance is the key and just like Ecclesiastes says, there is a time to keep silence and a time to speak (3:7), but I think I'm trying to find that right balance in my everyday life.

Oh girl, I LOVE that entire chapter of 1 Peter 3. It's one of my foundational scriptures for the women's ministry God is preparing me for.

Being bold is a state of mind...a mentality. You can be bold, yet have a gentle and quiet spirit. The Holy Spirit is both and because He lives inside of us, we do too.

Finding balance isnt always easy, but it's not impossible. God is with you.

Maybe it means you'll become more aggressive and bold and strong because you need to for the moment because your hubby is being hospitalized.

Thanks for the encouragement, Cholette, and yes, good point, Jasmine. I think my husband's long recuperation after his accident (going on 15 months now) has made me a lot stronger.
