paying for something that was offered for free

Post by rosebush on Thu Jul 28, 2011 8:38 pm

In this dream I am offered something for free, but I express a desire to pay instead.

I've had similar dreams. Could it be literal?

just thoughts...

What came to me was faith/salvation. God's gift of salvation is by His grace, not our works...it's free, not something that we have to pay for even though we often feel as though we should....

I prefer paying for things, rather than being a free rider -- independent spirit?

The dream was about having a bathroom window installed, as in a glass block window, and it paralleled what was happening in truth that day. The installer did not offer it for free, as the dream. I was told the dream had to do with revelation.

Both the free offering and the single mother issue of my dream seem to be about independence.

Wonder if God is wanting to deliver me of an overly independent spirit?

Thanks for helping.

Then it may be literal as Laura said or an Ecc 5:3 dream since you had a similar experience during the day. I don't think on the basis of this specific dream that it has to do with revelation since the dream is similar to a IRL experience. You may have been told that because the person saw the window symbol in your dream and windows often symbolize revelatory knowledge (but no one symbol has the same meaning 100% of the time).

I would suggest praying for more understanding of this dream and the independent spirit issue. If the Lord is showing you something regarding either revelatory knowledge or your independent spirit, He'll be faithful to show you more. flower

When I first read this, the same thing that Lola said, came to my heart as well.

With me, some of my dreams have duel meanings. Not all of them, but every now and again, I get some like that. I believe that what you may be experiencing naturally (independent spirit) begins spiritually. If you sit with what Lola said and pray, God may show you that Spiritually you may be demonstrating an "independent spirit". When you accept what Christ has done for You, then you may be able to accept what HE causes people to do for you.

Just something to think about...not an interpretation.

That could well be. I was never this way as a young woman and probably had more of a dependent personality, but after being a single mother for so many years, I've just gotten in a groove of preferring to take care of things myself, not that I don't pray and ask for God's help, cause I do that very often! I'm not much for people help.

Thanks very much!

tenderpepper, I can relate as I'm a single mom too...people help comes at a later to be disclosed price, God's help is free....it's a process...tagging on to what Cholette said above, ask the Lord to help you to better discern when that help is coming from Him through another person...
