Please pray!! Going through divorce...ex is not paying bills or giving much support!!

Recommended Posts

Hello..
I humbly as for your prayer for myself and my three small children...I am going through a divorce and my soon to be ex is not a believer, and with that, is also suffering from depression and bi-polar disorder...He refuses medication, and is still employed...His behavior is very erratic--never had interest much in the kids or me during the marriage...He has secured a lawyer who allegedly is not real sound, uses dishonest tactics during divorce...My ex recently decided to withhold money from the kids and I and am finding it diffucult to make ends meet...I cannot work until divorce is final and have to take courses so I can eventually enter the work force...I am frightened, to say the least, and am wanting God to relieve us of this heavy burden ....My ex filed for the divorce and is hoping that by withholding $$, it will force me to settle the divorce...Thank you for praying for us...I do not desire reconciliation with this person...he says he is not capable of marriage and commitment and I do believe that is true..thank you..

Praise the Lord, aliveforjesus!

I will certainly pray for you! May I ask...do you have a lawyer or some other form of legal representation? If you can't afford one, please seek the assistance of Legal Aid or some other
free legal representation. You need an advocate to help protect your and your kids' legal rights in this situation. It's been some time since my own divorce and laws/processes differ from state to state but you and your children have rights. If the court has established that he has to pay $X for child and spousal support, he can't get around it. If he's not paying, let the court know ASAP. His wages can be garnished (actually, I think they call it withholding the support from his wages) in order to ensure that you receive your payments, that's what was done with my ex because he was trying to pay similar games.

Even if there's a delay, you will recover those monies. There are two things that people can't get out of paying in the US - taxes and child/spousal support. If he continues to not pay amounts that were determined by the court, he risks the amounts being deducted from IRS refunds, not being able to renew his driver's license and car registration, not being able to get/renew a US passport, all the way up to jailtime. His attorney is giving him bad advice.

He may not be capable of marriage and commitment but he's going to find that the courts will "assist" him in being capable of paying his child/spousal support obligations!

Thank you so much Lola and Cholette...I have secured a lawyer, however, each time my ex forces me to inact the law to protect the children and I, it costs alot to go to court....I am hoping that it doesnt come down to that, and that he agrees to my settlement amount...could you all pray for that?? and that he will pay the bills until it is settled?? it is a very stressful time...thank you so much..

Please don't hesitate to ask us any time to pray for you. My mom and dad got divorced when I was 9 years old and the only advice I can give you is just to be there for them. I know this is going to be a difficult time, but they need as much love as possible and you need to reassure them that it is not their fault, that they are not to blame about what is happening. For some reason children always seem to think they have something to do with the fact that mommy and daddy are moving apart.

My heart really goes out to you, I wish I could just give you such a big hug. Although this is going to be a difficult time, it is reasuring to know that Jesus is going throught this WITH you, every minute of every day. He is also there for your children. Please ask us anytime, even if you just want to talk. This is a great ministry, and I have been helped a lot concerning some issues in my life through the great loving people here. Will keep praying for you.

Love in Christ
