Should I tell my doctor about my mental/emotional state?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to my pediatrician about how I feel everyday. I always feel miserable or "ok" (that's if you want me to be positive). I always feel terrible. When I talk to my mom about this stuff, she never shuts up! Today, she said she does that because she feels she needs to correct me. :idk: She's been told she's a great listener (:yeahright: those co-workers don't know the half of it). There's a whole lot more to this mess and I'm too tired to tell you guys everything. Please pray that I say the most important thing about my pain and some "supporting details" to back up what I say I feel (symptoms, thoughts, etc.). I don't want her t o say I'm alright. I know I'm not alright. I've been feeling this way for what feels like a decade (and I'm only 13). Oh please, please pray!

Jasmine, do you have anyone in your church that you can talk to? I'm a little leary about you telling your pediatrician because they usually don't want to solve anything...only medicate. You don't need to be medicated, you just need someone, besides your mother, that you can freely express yourself to.

I agree with Cholette ~ Im not saying that medicine is never ok, but that talking things out with someone who is trustworthy and gifted in counseling can really be encouraging. At 13 you still have so many others in charge of what you do in your life and that in itself can really be challenging. I will be praying for wisdom for you Jasmine.

Nope! Nobody! My pastor is old-fashioned, the other teenagers don't seem so close to God (I'm not judging, but I tend to behave the best), I have a bible class teacher that really seems to connect with teens but sometimes she's not there or I 'm not at church, or we come late and I can't talk with her. Also she has to help the other kids.) Let's look at my family. You know the deal with my mom. My dad is distant living somewhere in Brooklyn and even if he lived with us, I still would not be comfortable with him. My aunt would be more concerned, but she's like a caregiver to my grandma. Then, she'll lecture my mom. Then, my mom will be aggravated at me. Then, I'll be upset and dislike her more. Then, I'll have another thing to write on my list of bad actions she's done (I'm not literally counting her sins but I just can't forget). I could tell my grandma, but she speaks Spanish and she can't understand me. There's my grandpa, I don't want to even explain. I HAVE NOBODY BUT JESUS, AND I CAN'T HEAR JESUS. I don't want pills. I want counselling. My mom won't get me to the shrink. If I get a referral from the doctor, she has no other choice but to take me whether or not they have openings.

My heart breaks for you because you have WAY TOO MUCH to be concerned with, at the age of 13. You should be enjoying your young life, but you seem to have been placed in a situation where you are left to hold the world on your shoulders.

I can say this about Jesus...you don't have to "hear" him. There is something about going to God and venting to him...pouring out everything that is on your heart. Many times I don't hear his voice...especially in certain seasons...it's a peace or a feeling that everything is going to be okay. That, to me, is the comfort of the Holy Spirit. This could be one of the things you talk to Jesus about...the fact that you have no one to talk to...and let him set up the right circumstances for you to meet someone that you can talk to...a mentor!

It is definately not God's will for you...or any of us...to be weighed down with stuff!! Go to him and let Him touch your heart and calm you on the inside. The God who created your emotions is the one that has the combination to untie whatever has you bound up.

Love you girly...

Dear Jasmine...you have many sisters in Christ on this site that would love to Spiritually Mentor you....We would love to be here for you and many have walked in the Lord for many years.

It doesnt need to be shared on the open forum...I am willing to be available and I know I speak for the moderators here...and so many more. If you want the peace that passes all understanding, If you want to have encouragement and guidance on how to navigate through the trials and struggles....you can private message as well. It seems like so much in your life is a struggle, but THAT IS THE PERFECT PLACE to really test and grow your faith....I have just been through a very hard time losing my home of 27 years...and other issues that have emotionally held me hostage....but I am seeing the Light at the end of the tunnel and it is Christ....with His hand out to me.
We will not hear god at first~But HE IS THE WORD THAT BECAME FLESH AND WALKED AMONG US. That is where HE will first begin to talk to you....as you begin to incorporate Gods ways into your life He reveals Himself to you in a deeper way...this is my experience. God bless you and guide you Jasmine....I am praying for you dear heart.

Jasmine...I was reading this scripture a few moments ago, in the Amplified Version of the Bible, and I thought about you. This confirms what I was saying to you in my other post.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]
Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.
For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good--not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne. (Matthew 11:28-30)

Hi Jasmine, fear not love for our Lord knows everything about you and I feel to tell you that he loves you more than anyone. I speak peace to your mind body and soul in the name of Jesus I ask that the Holy Spirit within you renews your mind and stills the many thoughts that have been and come against you in your life. Know love that you are a treasure in the eyes of our father and he will never forsake you even when you feel a loan. You’ve stated you can’t hear Gods voice but I believe he hear yours, I perceive your love and understanding of our father is that of oneness with his spirit let Jesus nurture that hunger he is faithful. Trust Jesus to overcome the circumstances in your life, you need only trust him he knows what’s best in your life. Now the best advice I can offer you is simply finding a place where you can be a loan with Jesus, tell him everything don’t hold back, give over everything that keeps you from moving forward. If a situation has got you down or some obstacle is put in your way and you are unable to achieve your desired effect, ask Jesus to remove you from the situation or if you feel bold ask him to intervene. Pray without ceasing love, it matters not if it’s said out loud or silent just continue to feed the spirit within you for the truth is written deep upon your heart, you only need to ask the comforter/Holy Spirit and Jesus will fan the fire within you. Words of encouragement, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Trust in the Lord may our Lord give you wisdom and may his strength infill you with understanding of his loving truth, God bless love in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen

thx but this depression doesn't only affect my emotional well being. I have aches and pains and there are absolutely no reasons for it. I never injured myself in the places that hurt (not including my legs). Sometimes I forget things I just heard (I do but on occasion). Also, depression affects your brain cells. Some psychiatrists want their patients to take stuff like MRIs and cat scans. I guess one day doctors will be able "see" depression in someone's brain on an image. Like i said before, i don't think i'm bad enough to get pills and I just want counseling, but my mom won't take me. She says she's afraid i'll exaggerate and other stuff. I guess she just can't come to terms with me not being okay. IDK

There is always an explanation to why you are being affected I advise you seek the truth ask the Lord to enter your life. You know who Christ is now let him take over, read his word Psalms is a good book to read, here you will find peace and strength. If you don’t understand read it over and over again eventually you will see its life and the Holy Spirit will quicken you. your family wishes you nothing but the best but as parents we tend to believe our own analysis of the situation. Take the time to talk one on one with your mum she will listen if you let her know what’s happening inside you. It might not be what she wants to hear or even what you want to do, but it will open her eyes to why you choose to keep silent and seek others for help. We as mums love our children and sometimes we assume so much but really we don’t understand.

The greatest counselor of all is Christ Jesus, nevertheless I tell you that what you are going through is and attack not from those who love you but from the devil. He doesn’t want you to be happy he will try to hurt you and will tell you lies, he will distract you from finding solace/peace. Try not to focus on the problems and aches that come to pass, just believe that Jesus wants to help you and little by little as your faith grows in him, you will start to see the blessings he wants you to receive. Your body will heal your mind will receive peace and through reading the gospel Jesus will lead you and supply all your needs and wants. I would love to help you through this time if you are willing I am a youth leader/counselor, I also have 6 children of my own my eldest is 20 yrs old and my youngest child is 4 so you can imagine the many trials my family and I have overcome. I have 2 adopted sons and 3 adopted daughters all put in my path since I was called to serve Jesus. I love Jesus and he is my Joy and through him my youth see his light and it is such a blessing to counsel them when they face sorrows and woes in their lives. None of us are perfect and if I can help you through this time please feel free to contact me, Peace be with you in the name of Jesus

Thx but I already now Jesus. My mom almost refuses to believe that I need help. She once joked around how I should go to some poor country and see what real suffering is (the whole world could be in more of a mess than it already is, I still deserve help.). She also said she wishes she could shake the depression out off me. I can't talk to her with out her interrupting me and "correcting" me.

I know Jesus is the Wonderful Counselor, but I want to talk to someone that is PHYSICALLY here. I know the devil is out to get me.

Praise God, sorry love I did not mean you didn’t know Jesus, I said cause you know Jesus it would be good at this time in your life to trust him more. I know from experience in my own walk that speaking out in faith and believing Jesus was there, gave me strength to arise above any situation.

It truly did help to talk to others but the healing comes upon you when you start to hope for things unseen in your life, find a quiet place and talk to Jesus. I hope that your relationship with Christ Jesus strengthens; he will bring people into your life and you will begin healing if you trust God.

Cast your burdens upon the Lord for he careth for you

LORD in the name of Jesus I lift the request of Jasmine into the loving attention of thy tender hands, knowing father thou hast already begun the healing of her mind, body and soul. Lord I ask that every situation that comes at Jasmine you rebuke, intervene and still these evil works. father the many forces that hinder her from coming to you I ask that you go forth Lord Jesus thy word says I have set the Lord always before me because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Bind these forces, silence the oppression of the devil in the name of Jesus. Father you said he is a liar and a thief, break all ties that hold him to Jasmines life. Thou art able Lord and I thank you for strength in her life, give unto her understanding father of thy truth quicken her with fire and fill her with living waters to overflowing. Peace and love be with you in the name of Jesus, unto God be all the Glory, Amen

LORD in the name of Jesus, I pray father you intervene within this child’s life, help the individuals who enter her path to know thy truth concerning her wellbeing. You are the healer dear Lord and I ask you fill each member of this family with wisdom and understanding of thy will in their lives. Let no destruction draw near their dwelling, send unto them thy ministering Angels intercept all forces that try to break the anointing upon their lives. Thank you Lord for thy saving grace and I ask that you forever keep this child and her family within your presence. Touch and open each individual to receiving thy truth, increase thy Spirit within their lives open unto them the tender mercies of thy faithfulness. I ask in the name of Jesus save Lord, let the king hear us when we call, unto God be all the Glory, Amen
