What can you do?

Post by unaday* on Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:22 am

There is a young lady at my workplace that will not attend church because in church the preach that if you 'do certain things' you go to hell. Just the straight up Gospel. She thinks that if God is a God of love she should be able to go to church and be accepted for who she is and not be told that she is heading for eternal damnation. I have explained to her the love of God, I have also explained to her that there are things that we believe are sin and if we sin we will not make it into the Kingdom. She is deterred by this notion and feels that church should not be like this. I have also explained that a good church accepts any man and any woman no matter their state, past or present but it's the determination of the church to bring you on the right path. But of course, she believes nothing is wrong with the path she is on- 'She is a good person!"
What else can I say or what else can I do? I feel like this is a losing battle- What else can i say to her. I refuse to argue but arguments don't bring a person to church. Any thoughts and any advice?

Hi unaday,

Bring church/Jesus to her, intercede for her, keep witnessing to her (when HS prompts you) and don't feel like she/it's a losing battle, the enemy would like you to feel that way so you'll give up on her. Do NOT give up on her. I have quite some people like her in my life and I'm believing for their salvation. I believe I might be the only bible they'll read, so I ask God often how/when I can share with them (one of them is my husband). I don't believe that people always get saved in church, eventhough that seems the most logical place:) but to testify of this, I got saved at someone's home (at the kitchentable) when that man(a friend of one of my friends) explained the Gospel to me.. And at the time I thought I knew everything about God, but I obviously didn't..
Don't get me wrong, I believe in going to church and bringing people along if they want to, but if they don't, which often happens, it doesn't stop there.
God bless you!!

Tell her that like Christ, you accept her as she is. Let the Lord help her find her place in church. I was totally turned off to church when I got saved. After a few weeks the Lord started showing me scripture and placing a desire in my heart to go to church. Talk to her about how Christ loves his children and accepts them exactly as they are. Church is two people discussing the Lord. He will do the work in her when the appointed time comes, in fact he is doing it already. Remind her that Christ does not condemn her and there is no guilt or shame. He takes her as she is. Tell them they are loved and accepted. That we all fall short of the glory of God and not one of us is worthy. Tell her that he died that she may live and that he knows all about her and that he loves her just as she is. Tell her, he is real and active, he is not dead but alive and that he will never leave her or forsake her. That is what she needs to know about our savior. He paid the price so she would not have to.

Love in Jesus,

Connie
