Scenerios that pop into your head that make you angry, but have never happened.

I get this ALL the time since I can remember. A scenario pops into my head and plays out like it really happened and not realizing what is going on, I start thinking about what I would do to the person either physically or by law enforcement because they are trying to hurt me or they are trying to run from the scene of where they rammed my car when I was trying to stop before the light turned red and not get a ticket, and they were tail gating me.
I end up hating the person and my blood is boiling as if it really happened.

Do I have to forgive people who don't even exist, that were just imagined?

Anyway why does this happen to me?

That even happens with scenarios that don't involve other people, like I would be looking at my ring or my glasses and I all of a sudden see them falling out of the window while we are speeding down the interstate, but, it's all in my head While we are speeding down the interstate.

HF...I was reading your post and I heard this scripture...

"...casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ..." (2 Corinthians 10:5)

Hmmm...now another scripture comes to mind...

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. (Phil 4:8)

Sometimes its not why you think things...it's that you have to be careful that the enemy isn't using your thoughts to sow seeds of anger or any other evil thing in your heart. He's sneaky, but the word of God says that we are not ignorant to his devices (2 Cor 2:11)

Lets change those thoughts girl...

Thank you for those verses. I actually had a tiny bit of one of the hint itself in my brain lol! Sorry, that's the best way I could put it!

Got it, No more fake arguments in my brain!! I've been hearing the first verse you posted repeated quite a bit when I get not so great thoughts.

Before you posted the reply I was wondering if it was the enemy giving me those thoughts to hinder my progress. So, that was a good confirmation too.

I don't mean to sound legalistic, but maybe you should be more careful what you're feeding your eyes and ears (movies, television, books, etc.) I came across a verse once in Isaiah 55:1 "Listen carefully to me and eat what is good and your soul shall delight itself in abundance."

I don't think it's just physical food here but our sensory diet in general.

Then also in Isaiah it says if we keep our mind on God He'll keep us in perfect peace.

h/f i totaly undastand ur plight,, ,,ive had the same thing ,, but im lot free now than in the past,, i 2 wood get angry ova imaginary situations,, ,, i think its all about subconcious stuff bubbling 2 the surface ,, ive hada lotta resentment /anger/un4giveness/greif,,etc ,,jus needing 2 get out,, um exame ur drms ,,see wat the main content is,, r ther reoccuring themes,, ,,. Thank you Deb, that's been like that since I was little. It has more to do with what other people have done to me.

lol! I agree D. It's not as bad anymore. Since I am working on forgiveness I had it pop up the other day!

I used to get this alot.......perhaps it is pent up anger, it was with me.

Alot of it it imaginations, I believe.....I had to stop watching movies that stimulated me to anger and the Holy spirit shows us what they are and aren't....music too.

Also I went and saw a doctor about my moods and he helped me big time.

Sometimes, a combo of the word with help with the physical can be helpful.

I hope you find you can control these thoughts as they are not to good on the bodies health (nor the spiritual side)......a definate stressor to quality of life. It was for me. Also I found reading boundaries books, really helpful.

Yeah, the Holy Spirit has been convicting me of watching things that make me angry. He is also going through my aunt to do it too. So, I don't watch the news much anymore and I don't listen to angry music anymore. It has helped tons! I don't get those scenarios nearly as much as I used to either.

What are the Boundaries books about?

i agree w/Dee cholete an Deb an Dsoul... be careful what I put in - as in movies , tv etc.. anything that is bringing in negativity...

b/c i did have a lot of anger / unorgiveness etc inside of me..
an I had to start w/putting in a lot of positiveness. an asking GOd for Help.. b/c at times it wud get bad.. b/c of all i had gone thru...
bandaid i wud thnk of circumstances that wud make me angry etc... esp at night....

i kept repeating that " I hve the mind of Christ" etc..

h/f the boundry books r a trilogy i think ,,of bounderies u can impliment in ur life 2 stop ppl manipulateing /dominateing/ oppressing u,, etc,, idk any details ,D

I know what you mean HF happened to me too all the time.. finally i got to where, when they started playing out in my head, i would tell myself to stop and think of something else. lol then i would pray for the Lord to help me think of better things..

sorry took ages to get back, what i meant about Boundaries books, Dreamster put nicely.....

I found that not only were my boundaries in life out of whack with other people, but I did not put enough boundaries on my mind, like telling myself what to think and what not to think. The mind is controllable and by that i don't mean an unhealthy control but a healthy control......we have the mind of Christ formed within us I believe this is why even non christians have a conscience, we are made in God's image, all of us. But now as believers we have His mind.


I was struck with mental illness many years ago and if I had not the word of God to clean my mind up and help me to know that I could choose my thoughts, I would never have gotten out of it. Praise God He is delivering me, has delivered me and is continuing to renew my mind as I learn to feed my spirit and mind with things that are good.

Even to have a balance and find things that minister to your soul as well as your spirit. Sometimes when we are sad we need to cry and release our saddness, sometimes listening to music that evokes in us feelings we identify with can help.....so what I am saying is, don't just ignore those feelings or thoughts, ask yourself why you are thinking them and appropriately learn by the holy spirit how to deal with them......His love and HIs word guide us and whatever is lovely and of Good report we think on these things, doesn't mean we have to feed ourselves on nothin but the wiggles or doris day songs, but sometimes we need to realise that some music is from the pit and some music is from God, even secular stuff.......it is not by might nor power but by His spirit.....balance is the key I find and knowing that we can do all things through Christ, we can think on Good things , but sometimes we have to cry before we can laugh ya know? We are human which doesn't give us an excuse to conform to our flesh, but also we are a spirit, we live in a body and we have a soul(mind) we are triparte beings and we need to minister to all three of our triparte nature in a balanced way.

I have a couple friends with mental illness. Which I was thinking about and had the thought that if they would only think about the good things that, possibly they wouldn't have it. Which was a little bit of a scary thought because it means that anyone could become mentally ill.

God has brought what you said about thinking about where the thoughts are coming from. I'm starting to be aware of what I'm thinking and where it's coming from.

I've been careful of the music I listen to.

I think you are right about crying before laughing. I wish crying wasn't so painful though.

Well I believe mental illness is caused by lots of things, chemical imbalaces, trauma etc so I don't want you to think I'm saying its just a matter of thinking good thoughts if someone has an illness. Just from mu own experiences God has helped big time through His word....
