Re: A Question

Post by lola21st on Wed Oct 29, 2008 11:15 am

It may depend on what you mean by "demand"...

Is the request being done reverently/fervently or in anger/disrespect?

Fortunately, making a demand to isn't surprising Him given that He's omniscient and knew it would happen. Also, that He's a faithful and forgiving God, it's likely that He would still give the blessing or turn the situation around so that everything continues to work according to His will and the plan that He has for the requester.

But is it wise? Probably, not.

Ya know I have asked that question myself, because I was making a few demands. I did it respectfully but it was still a demand. I don't think we have any right to demand. He is the one who gives me the breath I breathe so therefore should I demand anything from Him......No I should not. I can ask respectfully and request the same way but demanding to me is disrespectful of his Majesty and His Authority over us.

We owe Him, He does not owe us. He paid a debt with no hesitation that he did not owe.

Good Morning Everyone,

I did a bible study yesturday & last night on DEMAND & I couldn't find anything except a few things on God demanding or people were demanding things of others; however, looking up the word in the webster's dictionary:

Function:
noun
Date:
13th century 1 a: an act of demanding or asking especially with authority demand for obedience> b: something claimed as due demands>
2archaic : question
3 a: willingness and ability to purchase a commodity or service demand for quality day care> b: the quantity of a commodity or service wanted at a specified price and time demand>
4 a: a seeking or state of being sought after demand as an entertainer> b: urgent need
5: the requirement of work or of the expenditure of a resource demands of the office> <demands on one's time> demand for waste oxidation>
— on demand : upon presentation and request for payment ; also : when requested or needed

Re: A Question

Post by Dove-Solutions on Thu Oct 30, 2008 8:02 pm

Vikki,

I do agree that we have been given the right to come boldly before the throne of grace and ask anything in Jesus name and it will be given to us if it is the will of the Father. Being completely submitted to God is going to that Throne of God and boldly asking for those things with fear and trembling. By that I mean that we give Him our will, our full respect and do so trembling knowing that He is all powerful and holds our very life in His hands. I think sometimes that we abuse the verse saying we can come boldly to throne of grace.

If we truly understand that grace and accept it as a gift then we totally submit ourselves to Christ and lay our request at His feet and boldly stand before His presence knowing that all sin was washed away and knowing that we are fully approved before Him but at no point do we have a right to demand. When we suggest we do we are questing the integrity of God. Does this make sense?

Great topic here.

Love in Christ,

Connie

I agree with both of you.

I think you are both saying that we should boldly approach the throne of grace but approaching boldly and demanding are two very different things.

I imagine a prince approaching his father's throne boldly knowing that his father is just, that his father loves him, and that he has full confidence and trust in the goodness and integrity of his father so much so that he does not shrink back from his presence in fear of what might happen to him. However, even though he boldly enters the throne room knowing who he is (a beloved child of the King) AND knowing who his father is (good, kind, patient, longsuffering, gentle, ALL POWERFUL, trusthworthy, etc.), he still approaches his father's throne with the respect and reverence due the King.

Good Morning Dove-Solutions & Mia,

Hey guys.... I wasn't saying you should demand anything of God.... In fact, I said you should put yourself out of the way, I was just doing a little bible study on it... All I said was put a demand on the Word, and not in a wrong attitude, Like I stated it is all about the heart... I agree with you both completely.... I think if you reread what I posted you may understand... I believe in studying out words & the bible, You can get a fuller meaning to it... But hey, you guys have a great day!!!

LOL,
Vikki
