Purchasing a DVD in my dream

Post by John7 on Thu Jan 20, 2011 9:06 pm

Hi all

Recently I had a dream which I understand, however one thing im not entirely sure about. In the midst of the dream I went to a DVD shop and purchased a DVD called "the crow" the movie is about a guy who comes back from the dead. Just wondering if anyone had any comments on this?

Yeah your right, the movie is VERY creepy. Definitely not a christian themed movie, but I guess God can use anything to communicate to us. Maybe it could symbolically mean God is going to ressurect me from the dead, because at the moment my life does feel it has been put to death in many area's. However on the other hand, it could just be a random dream with no significance. I guess I just gotta keep praying about it.

I think you're spot on actually. If the overall theme of the movie is a man being raises from the dead, God could very much be sending you that message :)

I'd love to hear it in the context of the rest of your dream. Does that give any hints? :)

Ok Godchick, well I'll give you the full dream.

I was in one particular city and a farmer I know was walking me down a road between 2 farms, and people were playing cricket on the farms. We then went to the house where I'm staying, and the farmer was folding up my clothes (possibly packing for a journey). Then we walked outside the house, and then in the next scene, I parachuted off an enemy aircraft into the wilderness and I was eating army survival food with an army officer. Later I met some girl in a cave and I kissed her, and light radiated beween our lips as we kissed.

Then another scene started, I was in a totally different city and in a DVD store looking to purchase the crow DVD. The DVD store was in a particular business district street I know, and later on, I walked along the street and was planning to build a casino on the street.

Was a pretty weird series of dreams

Hey John, I’ve been praying about your dreams. I think there are a few hidden messages in these dreams. As I was having my morning devotion today, I read in Matthew, the parable of the seeds, scattered. All of a sudden, I remembered your dreams. These are just thoughts…

I’m wondering if the farms represent the kingdom of God, and the people playing cricket, are people in the kingdom – they are the harvest. Do you play cricket? Do you play any sports, in which the men are clearly ‘unsaved’? I have this feeling that you will witness to them – to people in your life.

My second thought is, could these people possible represent people who are not doing what they should be doing – they are not about the ‘kingdom business’, but instead, treat the harvest like a game – are just having fun, but not working in the Lord’s fields? Does this sit well with you?

My last thought could be that it is literal. You go to a farm, and you see people literally playing cricket… ;)

I'm wondering whether the farmer could represent God. He is preparing you and helping you ‘pack’ so to speak for the future, and for the next season. Almost like saying ‘gird your loins,’ ‘get ready’. God has a big future for you, and I can’t stop thinking about Abraham. The promises He has promised you, he is reiterating to you. God constantly ‘reminded’ Abraham of the covenant and the calling, that Abraham would be made into a great nation:

Genesis 15
The LORD’s Covenant With Abram
1 After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision:
“Do not be afraid, Abram.
I am your shield,
your very great reward.
2 But Abram said, “Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit] my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”
4 Then the word of the LORD came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” 5 He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
7 He also said to him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it.”

That dream ends with you walking outside the house. I believe this could be the ‘ending’ of a season. “we are leaving this place, we are together, leaving the old behind.”

The next scene reminds me of a battlefield – yet, although it is a war scene – you are in a higher place – a new place. A place high up, and unexpected. Parachuting is exhilarating. It is full on adventurous. I’m wondering if God is going to bring you into an adventurous season, where even though the enemy may come against you, it actually bounces you up into a higher place in God. What the enemy means for evil, God uses for good. I think this because nothing harms you, though you are in a ‘war’. You do not fight, but you survive. The army officer, I believe is a most needed friend that God will provide for you in this season. A companion, doing life with you.

I'm wondering whether you will meet someone also? (that is, if you are not yet married). From a biblical perspective, caves often represent a place of security and safety, which is juxtaposed with the wilderness… I am also reminded of Elijah, when he enters into a cave to find shelter from Jezebel, who plots to kill him. It is here, where he is away, safe, and he rejuvenates. The Lord also speaks to him, not in the fire, the wind (not in the exuberance) but in a still small voice. It seems as though during a time of rest, renewal and strengthening God could bring to you your wife (or strengthen your current relationship, if you’re married). (similar to my dream!) The ‘light’ between your lips – I think whenever there is light, it could be the presence of God, which is IN your union, and intimacy.

the next scene I think summarises the past season you have walked through. There may be a time of reflection where you realise, that you are no longer who you were. That person died, through all the trials and tests, and now, you have the ability, skills and resources to live out the dream that God has placed in your heart for the kingdom of God. You are definitely called to finance the kingdom, and to have a place of honour amongst leaders etc. I believe you will influence wealthy business me, and be able to channel wealth for God’s purposes.

I am lastly reminded of joseph – an anointed young man, yet had to walk through 17 years of trials to ‘die to himself’, in order to channel resource, (wheat/grain, in a time of famine), to the kingdom of God (Jacob, and his family). What I LOVE about the story, is that it ALL happens in ONE day! God takes a man from JAIL, and in ONE day lifts him up to be the RULER OF THE LAND OF EGYPT!!!! Second only to pharoh himself. WOW!!! You may be in a tuff place, but just keep pushing though. It takes a long time for God to move SUDDENLY. Your ONE day could be just around the corner. Nothing is impossible with our God!

Please pray about all that I have said, these were THOUGHTS only!!
I pray you have been encouraged!!

Blessings!!

Hi there Godchick

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my post. I sincerely value what you have to say and I was blessed by every word you typed.

You did help me understand certain aspects of the dream and I think you are correct about a lot of things, and I guess God will reveal to me the full understanding of this dream in His perfect timing.

And you are right, I have been going through some serious testing in my life, and I thank you for the encouragement that you said, "nothing shall be impossible with God." And I must tell you, after I got saved, God spoke to me supernaturally and he said to me "nothing shall be impossible" so your confirming a word the Lord gave me. Once again, God is using you again to bless me!
