January 3, 2010 Drawing Closer to God

Post by Mia Sherwood on Mon Jan 03, 2011 2:07 pm

The first good choice every day: Starting it with God.

It seems when I start my day with Him and focused on His kingdom, I stay that way. I also noticed that the periods in my life where I have been diligent about seeking God, I've accompolished more when I sacrifice time to spend with Him first, than I would have achieved with the extra time if I hadn't set aside time with Him first.

When I was praying today I noticed, like I always do, all the things I have to do that come to my mind in prayer. I've got to pay this bill. I've got to make a doctor's appointment, etc. I try to brush them off and refocus on the Lord because I feel like they are an intrusion but today I felt like God was saying.... I'm talking to you about all the things you have to do. Write them do so that you achieve them. Then, ask me how I want you to do them.

WISE CHOICES right down to paying your bills and making doctor's appointments. Make choices NOW that you will be happy with later. I am in a position of bondage so to speak because I made choices last year that are preventing me from being free to do somethings that I'd like to do this year.

God is saying to me, Have a destination in mind when you start your day. Unless you have a goal and plan (broken down even into one choice at a time) you will never get where you want to go. I need to know what my goal is so that I can make choices that will get me there.

I decided a good way for me to do that is to write down my daily goals and actually look at them often after I write them down.

On today's list:

Find God's presence.
Be beautiful on the inside.
Make choices today that will put my in God's perfect will forevermore.

My goal is to be free to make choices that allow me to be in God's perfect will. So today, I will make choices that will allow that to happen tomorrow (figuratively speaking). This is one way that I can get closer to God.

Sometimes we feel condemned when everything can't be perfect all at once, but moving in the right direction is sometimes all you can do. If we are moving in the right direction, eventually we will get there.

Do what you can do, one great choice at a time..

I loved reading this today Mia...I am not online regularly now, but this is exactly what I need to hear. I would love to hear a "daily" thought, from you each day and even if it is short, similar to this one...God sure packed a lot of wisdom into it.

Consider the cost....if we dont have a goal everyday to seek and follow God's will for us...and I really get the part about a commitment one year that may put you in bondage at another time. I have my pad of paper here and will pray for God to prioritize my day...thanks. God bless you Mia for everything you do.

The other day I was checking why some people were blessed and others were passed by in the bible. I found out that God is ready to bless his children, in fact he desires to bless exceeding and overwhelmingly, his eyes are running to and fro to see whose heart is loyal to him so that he shows himself strong to such people. As we follow the footsteps of Abraham its openly noted that each instructions he followed from God attracted either new blessings or an increment of what he had already and he received because of choices he made in line with Godís word, yes he had covenanted with God but still he had to walk the covenant, He must have foremost known that God had the best plans for him and committed to his promises .
Jer 29:11-12
For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope 'Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.

Psalms 37:4 "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. "See, first you have to commit your ways to the LORD, you have to choose some ways to attract Godís blessings.

God bless you Mia.

Hey Mia,

Great encouragement! That is very much my quest as well! To be free to be in His perfect will! Those little daily choices sure can add up and hinder you in the long run. Thanks for the simple yet uncommon "Godsense".

Be Blessed!

drawing closer to God

Post by christinme on Wed Jan 05, 2011 3:13 am

do you believe by drawing closer to God we should keep HIS customs and traditions if we have been grafted in? "Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed times. and a turtledove, and a swallow, and a thrush observe the time of their coming -but My people do not know the ordinance of Yahuah". see Jeremiah 8:7

i am struggling with believers mixing the holiday Christmas with the HOLY MESSIAH. can you help me understand why are we doing this?

Jesus stated the number one reason that God was always with Him was obedience. I think being obedient to God is still the number one way of having Him always with us and that is partially done by keeping Him first.

I think that we should celebrate God's gift to the world just as His people have always been instructed to make holy days of the great things God has done for them, like the Passover, but I don't necessarily think it has to be done the way it is being done.

Thank you Mia...I too am so excited about what God will do with the book. I am so passionate this year...Something is happening, like we the children of the Living God ...we can all feel it ..something. Yes the end times are coming closer, but it is something more. A new passion a new love a new hope and new devotion to the lover of our soul. He is coming for us, His bride....we can feel it in the air...Praise God. I am so happy. I pray the enthusiasm of God's perfect love in us all. And All God's children said....AMEN
