Re: Spiritual Warfare
Good morning Mia,
Ok, let me explain it this way  . When I wanted to quit smoking I prayed and prayed for the Lord to deliver me. When I finally gave it to Him and layed it at His feet and told Him it had nothing to do with me but everything to do with Him......that is when the deliverance came.
Love in Jesus,
Connie

Thank you. It's good to be back. I'm holed up in the Comfort Inn with time on my hands.
And by not picking it back up again you mean that you didn't worry about it anymore?

Re: Spiritual Warfare
Ok. So I'm going to say it back to you so that I know that I understand. You trust God for the deliverance and quit worrying about it. Then, He delivers you, and you stay away from the thing you were delivered.
Correct?
Connie, Would you do the same thing when it's not so much a habit but a part of your behavior?
Here's why I ask. It's perfect. Trust God, get delivered, don't do it again. Simple. Perfect.
But what about if it's a habit in your behavior that you want to be delivered of, something that you do without realizing it? How do you not pick that up again?

Re: Spiritual Warfare
Mia,
I would love to say I do that......but I can't and in truth I try to lay it at His feet, give it over to him and walk away and not worry in every situation including those you mention. I really try hard to do it.....but it is tough. It is so hard I think for us as humans to actually do it......even with the way we Love Him and want to do it...Like Paul said the spirit is willing the flesh is so weak. He also said the very thing He prayed the Lord would take from him was the very thing he would do...another words he struggled with this too. I really don't think there is a secret formula. That worked at the time for me but I do believe that we have to make it about Him and not about us.....he wants our sacrifice. He wants us to lay down our pride and our reliance on our humanity to handle it in our own strength and give it to him and when we do he honors that. This is such a great topic.

Re: Spiritual Warfare
Well said Connie! I'm reading a book by Max Lucado entitled "It's not about me" and he pretty much says the same thing. We are here to make HIM look good, not us. When we struggle in an area, whether it's behavioral or a vice that has it's control over us we ARE to lay it at His feet and allow His power to take over. It's not easy, but once we give it to Him, HE has it and one day we will wake up differently or losing our desire for certain things.
I remember when I first came back to God over 18 years ago and I loved to go to clubs and party. That seemed to be the hardest thing for me to give up. I prayed (as a babe in Christ) and asked God to take it away. I went to clubs after that, but not long after that, I one day just stopped having a desire to go. I can't explain it, but it just happened. I believe that's how deliverance is for the child of God. He does it in HIS timing...sometimes it's instant, but sadly most times it's not. IT IS all about Him.
Thanks for sharing that Connie...I have to go to God about some things and this reminded me that it happened before, it will happen again.

Re: Spiritual Warfare
Thank you so much Mia..This really helped me...I am experiencing some major attacks right now...Although I do most of these things pretty regularly (daily), I feel like it is hard to continually stay in the Lord's presence. I try to relinquish everything to Him and to Trust Him with all my heart, but the past few days it is not working..Anyway, thank you for this timely encouragement. God bless Mia!
