cheating dreams
Have any of you ever dreamed your spouse or loved one was cheating on you? Ive had some that have made me break out in a sweat and they feel so real that I wake up begging my husband to wake up and comfort me. Cheating dreams can be symbolic or literal. Its so easy for us to have a dream of our spouse cheating and then wake up with the assumption that it must be literal because it FELT SO REAL!!
Cheating dreams can be rather helpful and, if you had a dream like i had just recently, you may be surprised who's really doing who wrong in the end.
I must take this opportunity to reinterate that emotions in dreams are often overexaggerations of when they happen in real life. A dream can be so emotional and we become so distraught, but when it happens later on, it was MUCH less mild then what happened in the dream.
I'm going to give some examples of literal dreams i've had and some symbolic ones as well and hopefully ease some of your minds in regards to those scary cheating dreams we all hate to have.
1.The Symbolism of Cheating:
I, being the transparent person that I am, will go ahead and confess that I'm a needy wife. I like to have my husband around all the time. In fact, I like it so much that even if we're arguing I'd rather him be around and mad at me, then gone and mad at me. We recently moved to a new town 3 hours away from my friends and family or anyone i know, which made me even more needy. I have learned that anything in your marriage life (or dating life) that makes you feel even the slightest bit jealous, can turn around and become "the other woman" that night in your dream.
Here are a few examples (for women who have the dreams): Football, hunting, fishing, hanging out with the boys, college and studying, reading (if he is an avid reader), camping, the computer (especially if he's going to school online and never gets off the thing), working out, golfing, work...you get the picture. Anything that is time consuming and takes his focus or attention off of you and tends to make you a bit jealous. If your husband or loved one has a good realationship with their child(ren)'s mother, the friendly relationship could also manifest itself as a cheating dream. It could be symbolic as well if your husband has a secret project he doesnt want you to know about because it costs too much money or something, when you get a cheating dream, ALWAYS pray concerning the meaning and try not to jump to conclusions. It doesnt neccesarily mean he is cheating...It is important for us to understand that God not only warns us by giving us cheating dreams, but it may be that He has sent the dream to us as a message that we are jealous of something in their lives.
With my husband the most common theme of cheating dreams I've had is piligamy. Piligamy is that religion where a man has more than one wife. Before i married my husband I would have these dreams where he had all these girlfriends and wives other than me. But i was always his favorite. It had me concerned at first, but God soon showed me that these "wives" were just things in his life that took up his time. I understood there were areas I would have to let him go so he could be the person God made him. He is a student, a hard worker, a husband who is devoted to his wife and in love with football.
I dreamed my husband informed me he was going to start staying the night with this chubby hispanic woman once every weekend. They had 13 children together i never knew about until then and i agreed he could go. I knew he needed time with this woman because he had been so stressed out lately and i knew he loved her. Well I went to her house because I forgot to ask him something and when i opened the door, i saw him snuggled up next to her and i went crazy! I asked him if i could speak to him outside alone. When we got outside i slapped him at least 10 times
I said "what were you thinking! you are MY man!" I then spent the next couple days following them around trying to convince him to leave her. The more we argued, the more he wanted to be with this woman and i felt him distancing himself from me. I told him if I'd gotten a boyfriend he would have gotten jealous too, he said no way in fact he would be happy for me. I didnt think that was possible because in real life, he totally would get jealous. At the end of the dream i told him i was going to leave him if he didnt get rid of her. He was my husband and what he was trying to get away with was piligamy and it was wrong. He looked at the woman and said, "Can you believe my wife doesnt want me to be with you and her at the same time?" She shook her head and said "I hate people who have an unhealthy way of thinking."
I couldnt believe it! I begged him with tears in my eyes to leave her one last time. He said he would consider it, but i knew in my heart he wouldnt leave her. When i woke up, my shirt was soaked in sweat.
All day the next day i couldnt look at him without being hurt or angry with him . The dream was so real and I couldnt shake the feelings from the dream. I knew it wasnt about another woman though because of the openess in the dream and I recognized the piligamy theme. Finally when I shared the dream with my husband, he looked at me and said "Football, its football. you said I had 13 children? Well there are 13 more games in the season and the guy that invited me to play football with him once a week is a chubby hispanic guy." The more i thought about it, the more it made sense. Even though I had just agreed in my heart it would be good for him, It would be just like me to turn around and get jealous of him playing football. God was showing me my heart to prevent a huge fight and showing me that i was having an unhealthy way of thinking by trying to prevent him what he loves to do because of my jealousy. When he had told me in the dream he would be happy for me if i'd gotten a boyfriend, it pretty much meant that he would be happy for me if I had a time consuming project that didnt involve him. Thats when God spoke to my spirit about the dream group. I have so much work to do online, that it would be so good if I could take advantage of the time he spends away by working on dream stuff. Sometimes we just have to let them go and that my friend, is the healthy and unfleshly way to do things.
1 Corinthians 3 says. "And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ.
I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?"
There you have it, letting go of jealousy is letting go of the flesh and embracing a spiritual life in Christ.
Here are some things to look for in a symbolic cheating dream. 1. Usually the relationship or other woman will be revealed to you from the very beginning of the dream. 2. Symbolic cheating dreams wont always be overly lustful (if its symbolic for porn, its still considered cheating in my book and i'll cover that shortly.) In the symbolic dreams I've had of my husband cheating, he was only in love with the girl (they may have had sex but i never witnessed any lust, just tenderness and love.) 3. There should be literal things involving the situation in the dream that will give you a clue as to what the "other woman" represents. Example: if he's going to school online, the other woman in the dream may be someone he's chatting with on the computer. Also in the football dream i had, it was the 13 children that represented 13 football games.
I would also like to add that if its a symbolic cheating dream, it could be that your sweetheart has an addiction to their hobby and needs prayer. Everything in moderation right? Just like all dreams, cheating dreams must be handled with prayer :-).
2. The Literal Form of Cheating Dreams
If you dream literally, things will happen exactly the way it was in your dream with the possibility of symbols here and there.
But if you are anything like me, the dream will be mostly symbolic with bits of literal stuff in there. Both literal and symbolic (under this 2nd category) have one thing in common, they both have arrows pointing to the same message.... "He or She is Cheating!"
I used to have dreams that my ex husband was cheating on me. I didn't pay them much heed at the time because my knowledge of dreams and visions was very limited and I thought all bad dreams were from satan. In a moment, I will list as examples the few I can remember. Some people dream literally with just bits of symbolism. That rarely happens to me. I mostly dream symbolicly with bits of literal stuff in there. For those of you who do this, there are two main things you need to look for if you have a "literal form of cheating dream". 1. Their will be deception. The significant other most likely won't be open and upfront with the relationship and you may walk in on them and find an undelightful surprise. 2. There will be lots of lust in the dream and an overwhelming feeling of being done wrong associated with it. (this can happen with "symbolic cheating dreams" as well so don't always go with your feelings with these types of dreams)
Proverbs 27:5 says,
"Better is open rebuke, than love that is concealed. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But deceitful are the kisses of an enemy."
I had a dream where i was suspecting my ex of cheating on me (at the time I really was) and I kept trying to find evidence of this woman. He and i were in this house on vacation and he walked outside for a minute. Suspicious, I walked quietly behind him to see what he was up to. Even though I knew in my heart he was making out with her on the front porch, it was like i could never catch them. I would walk up to the porch just as they had left every time i tried to catch them in the act. Then I gave up and sat on the back porch. suddenly this woman walked up and was bragging to her friend that my ex was seeing her behind my back. She had no idea I was her!
After having this dream I prayed for evidence and that God would show me proof. Then i had this dream: I was riding in my ex's truck and found a video tape that i played while he was driving. I watched as a girl climbed in the passenger seat and started kissing him. It was very lustful and i was heartbroken. I felt like she had totally taken him over for herself and I was no longer number one in his eyes they were laughing together and knew i was watching. it was like they made the tape so i would finally know, they were being very cold hearted. I opened the door and bailed out of the truck. I landed in a beautiful garden of flowers and knew that I would be ok even though I had been cheated on.
God finally provided the proof I needed and I ended up bailing out of the marriage. (he was an unbeliever btw) I believe God can heal anything and broken marraiges as well. I had asked the Lord about staying with my ex and even told my ex I would work things out. But he didnt want to stay in the relationship. It was over for him so I filed the divorce after God showed me his heart wasnt going to change. There were several times in that relationship that I caught him looking at pornography online and chatting to women on the computer. Here was the verse God gave me about that. Matthew 5:28 "but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Even though it was one of the most difficult times in my life, I knew I would be ok and God ended up giving me a Boaz. Boaz in the book of Ruth was a kisman redeemer. He was a man that gladly married Ruth after the first kinsman redeemer in line would not step up to the plate. I Praise GOD for my Boaz!!!
I hope this helps some of you and I will add more to the topic as the Lord teaches me.
God bless you all!
Lots of Love,
Daph

Re: cheating dreams
I meant to reply yesterday, but I was busy working on a project.
Daphanie, your ex sounds a LOT like my ex husband (13 years...whew!). But God is so faithful! He has blessed me with my kinsman reedeemer. (Thank you soooo much for that analogy. I was truly blessed by that. Kinsman Redemer? Who would have thought? You go girl! Praise God for the enlightment.)
But anyway, Monday night I too had a "cheating" dream but I thank God for the confirmation, because I confessed my "jealousy" to Him and admitted that I have yet to gain victory in this area. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak (Matthew 26:41) I have to constantly die to the flesh. I am constantly having to put off the old (wo)man and put on the new (wo)man. (I think it stems from the past hurts, but I have to remember that God is faithful and has blessed me with a man that is 100 times better than the old one. I cannot make the current husband pay for the sins of my ex. I am not bound by the past!) So I "totally" agree with jealousy sometimes being the fruit of the "cheating" dreams. Earlier that day I had a jealous thought, but I did not act on it. (nag, accuse, etc.) I just breathed and turned it over to the Lord. I am running this race and one day I will DEFINITELY be victorious in this arena. I have grown so much! (My husband can attest to that).
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! God is sooooo awesome!!! After the dream I was kinda paranoid. Your testimony set me free! Thank you Jesus!!!
